TRIBUTES have continued to flood in for the teenager who was killed in a bus crash in Argentina just before Easter.

Friends and family of 18-year-old Alex Shaverin, of Queen Elizabeth's Drive, Southgate, have been remembering the life of the young man who died when his bus overturned en route from Mendoza to Buenos Aires on Good Friday.

More than 20 messages of condolence have been left on a special website set up by a friend of Alex's, as well as a selection of photos from his life.

The range of messages that have been posted describe Alex as a caring and funny person who was a good and trustworthy friend to many people.

One close friend, Alex Steele, describes Alex as an avid Tottenham Hotspur fan, and said: "He was a remarkable and likeable person who has left a hole in many people's lives. He made us laugh till we were in stitches and he was friendly, considerate and responsible."

Another friend, Allana, called him "the most amazing friend that you could ever have imagined" and added: "He has inspired me, comforted me, given me courage, but most of all just been there when I needed a friend. He always used to say he was there 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and that was no lie."

Alex died just weeks after finishing a ten-week volunteering expedition in Chile with the charity Raleigh International. He had gone to Argentina to travel with friends.

The 18-year-old was a former pupil of Enfield Grammar School and had also been a keen Scout with the 19th Southgate Jewish Scouts, picking up two of the highest awards the Chief Scout's Award and the Chief Scout's Challenge.
