A MAN suffered serious head injuries in what police believe was an unprovoked attack as he stood at a bus stop.
The 21-year-old victim was attacked after he crossed South Road, Southall, with a friend at about 9.15pm on Saturday. A green Vauxhall Cavalier drove at them before coming to a sudden stop in front of of them. It then drove off.
A few moments later, after the victim's friend had gone, the Cavalier returned and pulled into a nearby layby.
Five men got out and approached the victim before repeatedly punching him. One man then struck him over the head with an iron bar. The attackers drove off when passers-by came to help. The victim was taken to hospital where he received five stitches to his head.
The attackers are described as Sri Lankan.
