A LOCAL band who play left-field rock and punk sold out on their first performance in the Trinity bar in Harrow later this month.

The Infidels are a four man band who started up about six months ago and are currently on their first tour - and hoping for big things.

Jimmy Mulvihill, 20, who was a butcher put an advert up on the notice board in Tin Pan Alley a very famous street up London where Elton John and David Bowie once lived. The other members responded to the advert and now he is a producer and one of the guitarist in the band.

At first the band were rehearsing in various studios but they struggled to make ends meet financially. They then decided to practice in Jimmy's shed to save money and then turned it into their recording studio.

"Starting a band is a big risk" said Justin Sims, 26, who does the bass and vocals. "I used to be make films. I made loads of short films and really enjoyed it. One of my short films was voted the best short film in Moscow."

Justin sees himself as a creative person and although he gave up a stable job with a wage he said he feels much happier now.

Eksteen Jackobs, 25, also plays the guitar, he left South Africa so he could join a band in London. He sold his amp for the air ticket and came to London with just his suitcase and beloved instrument.

Anthony,18, the fourth member, only joined six weeks ago and replaced the drummer. He is currently studying A-levels in graphics, art and computer science at Harrow College. He will also play a big role in the development of the band's website which is up and coming.

At their first performance they were all overwhelmed by the support of their fans and felt a real buzz when they were performing. Anthony said: "It only felt like 20 seconds."

Justin said: "Each member brings something different to the band it is a pure collective we do not often fight and everything is a joint effort."

Their first album is coming out at the end of summer and will be sold in all good record shops.

They will be playing at Trinity in Harrow on May 19 from 9.45pm and it is £2.50 at the door.
