(League Cup Rnd One)

LOUGHTON secured a second round trip to Shenfield, when they secured a comfortable win over Division Three out-fit Stanford Le Hope over the weekend.

The match saw the welcome return of Ian Russell and Liam Fearns, while Nick Carlier captained the team in Colin Greenhill's absence.

Carlier won the toss and decided to bowl, and the attack was opened by Stuart Greenhilll and Tauseef Kazmi.

By the 12th over D Hitchcock and A Robinson were bowled out for 37, Kazmi supplying Morris with his first catch behind the wicket for Loughton.

P Gray and K Price, however, batted together for the next 19 overs bringing the score to 109, before Fearns had Gray caught in the deep.

Kazmi (3-30) and Syed Ali (2-36) mopped up the middle order, while Greenhill (2-27) bowled Ballard for the eighth wicket and Stanford closed at 194-8.

Gareth James and Nick Carlier again showed flair and commitment with the bat for Loughton, putting on 51 for the first wicket. And when Carlier was joined by Syed Ali, who hit three fours and two sixes in his 39 from 24 balls, 54 runs were added in seven overs.

And by the time Carlier was dismissed for 62 and Kazmi was caught behind, the winning total was in sight, which Russell and Paul Courtney secured to leave Loughton on 198-5.
