Chingford49-8

(League Cup 1st Round)

FIRST division Chingford claimed another Premiership scalp as they annihilated Fives by ten wickets at the Paddock on Saturday.

Winning the toss, Chingford skipper Shaun MacMurray elected to insert the home side on a damp wicket. This decision bore dramatic fruit as the first four batsmen departed without scoring as Jon Dyers and Grant Mather collected two wickets apiece.

Ballard then departed for a single as Fives were left reeling on 14-5. Brief respite was achieved as Morcrick and Swash put on 26 for the next wicket, but then both departed in consecutive deliveries from Andy Perrin.

Dyers was then brought back into the proceedings to polish off the tail as Fives were dismissed for 48.

So the seamers had done all the damage with Dyers (4 for 8) Mather (3 for 12) and Perrin (3 for 18) sharing the spoils assisted by an excellent fielding display with nine catches expertly pouched, four of them to keeper Billy Rhone.

Chingford's batsmen then polished off the runs in just 11.2 overs to complete an emphatic victory by ten wickets.
