Work is under way to make sure water keeps flowing, whatever the summer weather may hold.
Workmen from Thames Water are working on Streatham Reservoir in Daysbrook Road, which is built of brick and was constructed in about 1840.
A spokesman said: "We're re-opening the whole of the reservoir to help boost water supplies over the summer months, when demand normally rises because of hotter and drier weather."
Streatham MP Keith Hill visited the reservoir on Monday to see for himself the work taking place.
