A NEW £70,000 playground was officially opened by Ealing Council this week.

Children were invited to attend the opening of the new playground at North Acton Playing Fields and despite the wet weather some of them braved the rain to enjoy the new play area. The playground has been designed to be accessible to a wide range of abilities and ages. It includes features such as new slides, a climbing frame with a hammock and a "spinning wok".

Cllr Leonora Thomson, deputy leader of Ealing Council, said: "I'm delighted this playground is open and provides improved facilities for children in the surrounding area just in time for summer."

The North Acton playground was part of a £2 million programme of investment by the council over the next three years to create fun and safe playgrounds for children from across Ealing.
