The London family of a man who is believed to have blown himself up in an Israeli bar, killing himself and three Israelis, have spoken of their shock.

Asif Mohammed Hanif, 21, is said to have exploded a bomb he carried into Mike's Place, a popular bar in Tel Aviv.

His brother Taz said he could not believe his brother was responsible for the carnage.

Israeli security forces found a British passport belonging to Asif, and are hunting for another British man who they say also tried to blow himself up.

Taz Hanif told the Sun his brother was a harmless "teddy bear".

"He wasn't that sort of person. He was just a big teddy bear- that's what people said about him."

"What do you achieve by killing yourself and killing other people? If he did do that it was wrong but I can't believe he did."

The Hanifs live in a terraced home in Hounslow, and neighbours said they were shocked to hear reports Asif may have become the country's first suicide bomber.

It is understood Asif had been studying at Damscus University in Syria and had planned to return to London to teach children.
