A CLUB for young people in Brentford to get Animated' was launched last night at St Paul's Church, thanks to the partnership between Hounslow's Community Health Council (CHC) and Big Blue'.

Thursday (May 1st) saw the opening of Animate, a youth club held at the church on Half Acre, where kids can get access to computer equipment and join the information age.

Equipment for the group is being provided by computer giant IBM, nicknamed Big Blue' and Jacqui Stone, community relations worker with the firm, said they were delighted to be involved: In some areas people don't have access to computers at home, and libraries can be too far away and inaccessible. That's why we try and get youth groups together and have places for young people to be off the streets.''

The computer firm which got involved with the CHC over three years ago provided PCs, chairs and desks. Similar clubs have already been set up on the Ivybridge, Beavers and Haverfield Estates, where it was felt children may not have the chance to acquire computer skills, and have been hailed as a great success.
