A Battle of Britain airfield in Essex was the scene of Potters Bar-based Green Belt Motor Club's annual North Weald Sprint Racing Meeting.
Overall victory went to Tony Beesley from Harrow Car Club, in his Jedi single seater, powered by a 1040cc motorcycle engine.
He clocked a time of 1min 11.7sec on his third and final timed run around the T-shaped one mile-long course on North Weald's rather bumpy runways.
Not far behind was veteran sprint racer Geoff Jackson, one of Green Belt's vice presidents and an Arkley resident.
Despite having the battery cover fly off his black Ralt RT3 during one of his timed runs, he returned a best time of 1min 20.8 sec.
This was easily fast enough to win him the class for over-1300cc single seater racing cars, and to secure him eighth place in the overall standings.
Further down the 44-car field was another Green Belt class winner, Potters Bar's David Males, with a best time of 1min 29.8sec. He drove his 1998cc Peugeot 206 GTi Coupe to a narrow victory in the class for standard production cars up to 2000cc.
The Green Belt Motor Club meets at the Two Brewers pub in Northaw every Wednesday from 9.30pm onwards.
