Sabotage was not a factor in the Potters Bar rail crash, a report is expected to say today.
The crash, which killed seven people and injured 67 others, happened when an express train carriage derailed and crashed into Potters Bar station, Hertfordshire, in May last year.
A report by the Health and Safety Executive is expected to reject claims by Jarvis, the firm responsible for line maintenance at Potters Bar, that the tracks had been sabotaged.
Nuts for a set of points on the track were found to be missing, and this has been pinpointed as a potentially crucial factor in the tragedy.
Lawyers representing families of the crash victims say the report is unlikely to provide clear answers about the cause of the crash.
