A LEADING performance poet treated a group of schoolchildren to a reading of some of her finest work.
Jamaican-born Valerie Bloom visited Green Street Green Primary School, Vine Road, Orpington, to mark the school's poetry week.
Mrs Bloom recited a selection of her poems, including Snake and Ode to Twelve Chocolate Bars, to the young audience.
She also got to hear some of the poems written by children during their creative writing sessions.
Headteacher Barbara Grandi said: "The children enjoyed the opportunity to interact with a real poet. They had a wonderful time."
