BOOKWORMS are wiggling with delight after council chiefs agreed to review the borough's library service.

Bromley Council decided to consider an increase in the book fund and undertake a full review of library provision in the Orpington area.

The move came in response to a motion by councillors Chris Maines and David McBride, who voiced concern at the dwindling fund and asked the council to consider a new library at Locksbottom.

Councillor McBride said: "I'm pleased our plea for extra funding for books has widespread support. Libraries are a popular service and we must maintain book stocks to meet the demands."

The book fund will be considered as part of the budget when the executive sets the council tax in February.
