COUNCIL leaders have attacked attempts by Ken Livingstone to impose the same level of housing density found in inner London on the suburbs.
Bromley Council called for a rethink over the mayor's development plans and passed a motion questioning the need for so many additional homes in the capital.
The motion also questioned the sustainability of the rapid growth in population and building which the London Plan would create, with little provision being made for the required infrastructure.
Councillor Katy Boughey said: "We should be cautious we are not seeing inner London housing densities being imposed on outer London. The quality of life of our residents is at stake. If we're not careful we will be building the slums of tomorrow."
