WINTER may still hang heavy in the air but plans are already under way for the one of the summer's biggest carnivals.
Organisers of the Northfleet Carnival, this year celebrating its 39th birthday, say it should be bigger and better than ever before.
The big day of fundraising, announced for July 2, hopes to beat last year's fund tally of £12,000.
Chairman of Northfleet Carnival Association Robert Hardy said: "We will be contacting those who took part last year but new organisations should contact us as soon as possible."
