If you have a bare wall in your home and you don't know what to do with it, you can always transform it into a feature wall with the latest technology - digital wallpaper

The principle is simple. Simply choose an image you want to display on your wall, supply the dimensions and it is reproduced to fit your wall.

Creative director for The Bigger Picture, Georges Icke, said: "The technology is not new but it is new in this format. It is a modern technology which is developing and advancing all the time."

Explaining how it works, he says the image is transferred to digital information and this is "very effectively" reproduced onto panels of wallpaper The panels are 90cm wide and they are printed to fit the height of the wall.

Two different types of paper are used. One, which would be more suitable for the domestic market, is a latex-based paper with a flat surface making it look like a photograph and the other has a vinal quality which is more suitable for office installations.

Georges says, the idea is still gaining popularity in the middle market.

He says: "We believe as technology advances it will become more popular in this market."

But just how much does it cost, you might be wondering? Well according to Georges, at The Bigger Picture you would pay about £69.99 per square metre. So for a bespoke feature wall measuring 2.65m by 3m, or 8sq m metres, you can expect to pay pay about £500.

Georges says the wallpaper, which is flame resistant, can be hung DIY but he recommends you get a decorator in to do a professional job.

The Bigger Picture has created digital wallpaper for Changing Rooms star Linda Barker for her Ideal Home exhibition.

The gallery has an online image library with a variety of images and it can also source an image for a customer for a fee. But if you don't want to go for an entire wall, more common are large canvasses using similar technology.

So if you have a particular nostaligic shot, for example a photograph of your children, you could turn this into a large canvass to display on your wall.

But don't stop there, because digital images on handbags and deckchairs are also popular among customers, with one satisfied customer recently ordering six deckchairs for his home in the south of France. Visit mybiggerpicture.com
