BUILDING work has begun on the construction of a £60m exhibition and events centre at Bluewater shopping centre.
The Bluewater Events Venue, which is being developed by Lend Lease, is due to open next year and will host leisure and retail events.
Built alongside the main mall area and next to the existing 12-screen cinema, the centre will create 600 construction jobs and 100 permanent positions.
Richard Cable, head of Lend Lease’s development business in the UK, said: “Once complete, the events venue will allow Bluewater to provide a year round, consumer oriented leisure experience and will function as a major attraction, further growing Bluewater’s status as Europe’s leading retail and leisure destination.”
