WICKHAM Common Primary School is celebrating after winning the Bromley schools’ mixed hockey championship.
The event took place on February 8 at Ravensbourne Secondary School after 40 schools from across the borough competed in four qualifying rounds in January to qualify for the junior hockey championship finals.
Eight teams competed in this final and demonstrated a very high standard of hockey.
With good team work and high performances in all eight of their games, Wickham Common fought hard against opponents and triumphed in every match.
The success was especially pleasing for Wickham Common’s coach Nigel Lovegrove, from Lovegrove’s Hockey Academy, as well as all the supporters who came out to watch and cheer the team on despite the cold weather.
Wickham Common will now go forward to compete in this summer’s London Youth Games.
