A PAIR of Red Arrows pilots will be swapping their flying boots for running shoes when they take part in this year’s London Marathon.
Beckenham’s Flight Lieutenant David Montenegro, 33, flies as Red 7 for the world famous Royal Air Force aerobatic team.
And 30-year-old Flight Lieutenant Mike Ling from Biggin Hill flies as Red 6.
Both men have teamed up with the seven remaining Red Arrows to compete at the Virgin London Marathon and raise £40,000 for the RAF Association’s Miles More Minutes campaign.
Mr Montenegro said: “To be able to raise money for the RAF Association as part of the Red Arrows is a huge honour and will no doubt be a great challenge.”
Miles More Minutes aims to fund more telephone talk time for deployed RAF staff to speak to their loved ones.
