NATIONAL Science and Engineering Week runs from March 12 until March 21.
People are being encouraged to upload pictures of anything they spot in their garden, local park, school ground or hedgerows to whatonearth.org.uk.
Everyone who uploads an image will receive a free packet of seeds to help encourage biodiversity in their own garden.
The British Science Association is offering to build a 200 square metre green roof on top of a school which has uploaded the most pictures.
