ARMED robbers threatened a sandwich shop worker at Bluewater with a gun and fled with thousands of pounds.

The robbery at Pret-a-Manger happened at 5.45pm on Sunday (Dec 27) just 45 minutes after the shopping centre had closed.

Two men entered the shop on the ground floor shopping mall and threatened the 25-year-old female member of staff with a gun.

She was not hurt but was made to watch as the robbers emptied the safe.

They put the money into plastic carrier bags before fleeing on foot.

Detective Constable Neil Ratcliffe, who is leading the investigation, said: “Bluewater was extremely busy that day and we think the robbers made off on foot, possibly walking between stationary traffic which was leaving.

“I would urge anyone who thinks they saw them to get in touch.”

Police say both men were around 6ft tall, white and in their early 30s.

One wore a distinctive baseball cap with a grey camouflage design and a grey hooded top with blue writing.

The other wore a black hat, light brown jacket and blue jeans.

Both were carrying heavy plastic bags.
