COUNCILLORS could be forgiven for a feeling of deja vu next month after a storage company appealed their planning decision.

An application to build a Big Yellow storage building at Lewisham Way, Brockley, was rejected by Lewisham Council on August 6.

It was refused over fears of loss of employment from the site’s existing businesses and because of concerns about the impact on residents, some of whom claimed they were not properly consulted.

But following an appeal by the company, a three-day public inquiry will be held on January 26 at Lewisham Town Hall, Catford Road, Catford.

This application came after the company’s seven unsuccessful applications and subsequent appeals to the council for a storage facility in nearby Baring Road, Lee.

But Big Yellow enjoyed more success in May when a similar building at Westhorne Avenue, Eltham, was given the go ahead following a public inquiry into Greenwich Council’s refusal to accept the application.
