AROUND 200 children were remembered at an annual service for bereaved parents.
The service was organised by Lynne Booker, who set up the Terry Booker Foundation after her son was stabbed to death in Plumstead.
It took place in St Andrew’s Church, Brampton Road, Bexleyheath, and parents were invited to hang an angel on a Christmas tree to remember their children.
Parents read out poems and a reading was given by Greenwich Borough Commander Detective Chief Superintendent Richard Wood.
Children from Foxfield Primary School, Sandbach Place, Woolwich, sang choral songs.
Ms Booker said: “We remember our children every day but this is to recognise their lives at Christmas time.
“It was standing room only - there are so many more mums who’ve lost a child.”
More than £550 was raised on the night to help one mother whose second child died this year.
Ms Booker is raising money for respite facilities for bereaved parents. Call 07768 373420 for more information.
