A FORMER Charlton and Chelsea footballer was the special guest as a school opened its new playground.
Paul Elliott, now a 2019 World Cup ambassador came to Conway School in Gallosson Road, Plumstead, where his sister was once a pupil.
Pupils, parents and staff were also joined by Erith and Thamesmead MP John Austin for the grand opening.
The playground is just the first part of a £300,000 project to redesign the school’s facilities.
Now the school is looking for sponsors to help it complete the rest of the project.
Head teacher Rachel Webber said: “Once the project is completed the school would have first class outdoor learning facilities, which will help enhance the education of current and future generations of Conway children”.
