YOUNG artists will see their designs displayed in a town centre after winning an Olympics themed competition.
Last month Gravesham Council sent pieces of paper featuring a ring to students aged five to 19 across the borough and invited them to turn it into a picture of something that inspires them.
Earlier this month eight designs were chosen to be projected onto the side of the old bingo hall in Garrick Street, Gravesend.
The eight young artists were presented with certificates by British paralympic rugby player Jonathan Coggan at the Civic Centre in Windmill Street.
A council spokeswoman said: “Out of more than 1,200 entries from across the borough, these eight youngsters stood out from the rest.”
The competition was part of the council’s programme of events to promote the 2012 Olympics in the borough.
