Possibly one of the most controversial characters in pop history, I wondered what Michael Jackson was really like when I heard the news of his death on 25th June 2009.

As a child, my family all loved him, whether it was the moves, the music or the manic fashion sense, MJ knew what he was doing and despite the amount of negative media attention he received, his fans still carried on believing. So much so that I recently discovered at the Michael Jackson Official Exhibition held at the 02, his recent “This is it” tour sold over 750,000 tickets, and it was reported that 11 tickets were sold every single second!

It was no secret that Michael Jackson wanted to help the world, make it a better place, but i was extremely shocked to discover that throughout his lifetime he donated a whopping estimated £300 million to 39 different charities worldwide! Astounded by his generosity, there only seemed one more mission in order to further my dedication to his songs, see the new film “This is it”, showing footage of him rehearsing for the upcoming tour. Excitedly but slightly nervous I went along hoping for a final farewell to MJ, and to really see how the sell out concert would have looked. Just as I had expected, he looked phenomenal, a personal highlight being “Human Nature”, where Michael went onto explain about the need for trees and how society is “murdering” itself. Fellow celebrity friend, Elizabeth Taylor commented “If you listen to his lyrics they are those of a modern day prophet and it beseeches us to listen to him and what he sang”.

It was no wonder me and my mother left the cinema in tears, I don’t know about you but in my eyes, MJ was a legend whose music and inspiration has reached millions and will last forever. A true performer whose ability to entertain made magic around the world, Michael Jackson you rocks my world!
