A CHARITY is selling Christmas trees to help raise money for homeless people.

Jericho Road Project, run by King’s Church, Catford Hill, Catford, has signed up to the caring Christmas trees scheme.

The charity houses homeless people and helps them develop the skills needed to maintain secure housing in the future.

Caring Christmas trees are grown on sustainable tree farms so once they are harvested more are replanted.

Mayor of Lewisham Sir Steve Bullock said: “Given the economic conditions at the moment it’s really important to give a helping hand to those who need it, especially with Christmas just round the corner.”

Trees are available for collection from Bromley Road Retail Park, Catford, or Shaftesbury Christian Centre, Frankham Street, Deptford, on December 11, from 4pm until 8pm and December 12, from 10am until 4pm.

Collections are also available on December 18, from 4pm until 8pm and December 19, from 10am until 1pm.

The deadline for orders is December 14.
