Real nappies

In an effort to tackle the amount of disposable nappies filling up landfill sites, Bromley Council will host an information morning about choosing and using real nappies instead. The local authority’s Clothie Coffee Morning starts at 10am on December 9 at Community House in South Street, Bromley. The council’s green team will be offering a 10 per cent discount on any purchases made during the day. Call the team on 020 8313 4913 for more details.

Berry warning

The RSPB is urging people to avoid cutting back hedges and bushes too early to help provide more autumn berries for birds. The charity says this autumn’s mild weather has led to birds feasting on insects for longer - leaving hedgerows laden with berries. RSPB wildlife adviser Richard James said: “If cutting can be put off until later in the year it can help provide our birds with an additional food supply.”

Abandoned fox cubs

Learn more about how to protect foxes during a talk at St Augustine's Church in Bickley on December 3. The Friends of the Jubilee Country Park have organised for a representative from the Fox Project to talk more about caring for the red fox. The charity helps deal with sick and injured foxes and abandoned fox cubs in Kent and south-east London. The talk will be held at the church in Southborough Lane at 7.30pm. Call the friends group on 01689 862815 for details.
