TWO teenage girls have been found guilty of the manslaughter of vicar’s daughter Rosimeiri Boxall, who fell from a window in Blackheath.

Oluwakemi Ajose, aged 19, of Floyd Road, Charlton, and a 15-year-old, who can now be named as Hatice Can from Belvedere, denied causing Miss Boxall's death but were convicted at the Old Bailey today (Nov 18).

Judge Peter Thornton said he was lifting a court order banning Can's identification to deter bullying.

Miss Boxall, of Battery Road, Thamesmead, was found beneath an open window after falling from the second floor of a three-storey house in Coleraine Road, Blackheath, on May 17 last year.

The court has heard that before plunging to her death from Ajose's flat Miss Boxall was beaten and bullied by the defendants, who were 17 and 13 at the time.

A vodka-fuelled assault on 19-year-old Miss Boxall was filmed by one of Ajose's neighbours. It showed Ajose punching and kicking Miss Boxall and violently pulling her hair.

The court also heard how Ajose sprayed air freshener in the victim's face.

Both defendants had given evidence saying Miss Boxall had not fought back.

The mother of one of Ajose's neighbours heard shouting and screaming from inside before it went quiet.

Ajose then rushed out of the door and down the stairs, with Can following.

The prosecution said Miss Boxall plunged from the third-floor window to escape their abuse.

Can continued to hurl abuse at Miss Boxall saying “serves you right” as she lay dying on the ground. The 15-year-old returned to the flat to pack a bag and attempted to flee the scene.

After being arrested, Ajose said: "I'm not going down for murder, I might have beaten her but I did not push her."

The defendants blamed each other for telling Miss Boxall to jump when she climbed up to the window after she was attacked.

Ajose and Miss Boxall had been best friends but fell out as an argument between the younger girl and Miss Boxall about a boy escalated to comments about family backgrounds.

Roger Smart, prosecuting, said: "Rosie leapt to her death from the kitchen window of Kemi's flat to escape from a prolonged period of physical and verbal abuse. Immediately before Rosie fell, she was clearly in fear of being hurt physically. This fear caused her to leap out of the window, as a result of which she met her death."

On hearing the verdict, Can, known to friends as 'TJ', burst into tears and was comforted by her tearful mother.

Ajose could be seen wiping her eyes.

Prior to the jury's decision, Can had seemed relaxed, donning her barrister's robes and wig to pose for photos on her mobile phone.

The jury took 13 hours and 37 minutes before delivering their majority verdict today.

Both Ajose and Can were remanded in custody for sentencing at the Old Bailey on December 15.

Miss Boxall was adopted by the Rev Simon Boxall and his wife in 1991 when they lived in Brazil.

After the family returned to the UK in 2005 to live in Thamesmead, Miss Boxall attended Plumstead Manor School.
