THERE will be a chance for people living in one part of Bexley to do some “learning for pleasure” as part of a new government initiative.
The North Cray area is to get £98,000 for a Spread Your Wings initiative, which it is hoped will become a model for other similar schemes in the borough.
A partnership of Bexley Council, Bexley’s adult education college, the Youth Action and Diversity Trust and Charlton Athletic Community Trust, will be providing a programme of activities and events, based at the North Cray neighbourhood centre in Davis Close, North Cray.
The aim of the initiative is to open up new opportunities for local residents.
The programme will include arts events, cooking, gardening, physical activity and fitness, reminiscence work, and reading and discussion groups.
The cash is part of a new £20m Transformation Fund launched by the government to provide cash for innovative informal adult learning projects.
