During this term, children at Southborough Primary School have been invited to find out more about Black History. Year 6 have written about the recent weeks here!

In Southborough we celebrated Black History week by looking at Africa. Each year class had a different country from all over Africa and all of us created individual African master pieces. It was really good fun and after everything was finished, it all looked fantastic. There was a special performance called Kenta’s Journey and the children thoroughly enjoyed every minute.

Every year group made mind-blowing work, from reception to year 6. On Tuesday we had family grouping, where children from different year groups work together.

“I really enjoyed learning about Sudan, sadly I won’t be able to do it again next year,” said one of our Year 6 students.

Last year Southborough celebrated Black History Month by learning about Black Hero’s such as: Lenny Henry, Harriet Tubman, Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King Junior, Nelson Mandela.

We hope next year will be even more adventurous and inspirational. “I had fun learning!” said year 3. Even the teachers enjoyed it.
