THERE was a taste of food as well as music and dance, poetry and some black history at an event organised and attended by young people.
Bexley’s youth council teamed up with community group Active Horizons to host the Freedom 12 event in St Mary’s Church hall in Bexley Village.
The free multicultural event was not just part of Bexley’s Black History Month celebrations but also a celebration of Article 12 of the United Nations Convention which declares children and young people have the right to participate in decision-making relevant to their lives or their community.
A number of Bexley councillors attended the event, together with Bexley London Assembly member and London Youth Ambassador and watched performances by local entertainers such as Jugnu Bhangra Dancers, Mystikal, Dynamix and Afro Face.
