TEENAGERS are being warned to take more care on the roads, now the darker nights are here.
Transport for London (TfL) has launched a new road safety campaign aimed at cutting the numbers of teenagers seriously injured or killed on the roads.
Between 2006 and 2008 a quarter of all collisions involving teenagers took place between October and December, after the clocks go back and the nights get darker earlier.
They typically happen on weekday peak travelling times from 7am and 9am and 3pm and 7pm when teenagers are travelling to and from school.
As part of its campaign TfL has produced a limited edition reflective wristband which will be given out at exclusive concerts and youth centres.
Chris Lines, head of TfL’s London Road Safety Unit said: “This is a call to action for teenagers to make sure they stay visible during the darker months.”
He added: “The changing of the clocks ia a critical time for everyone, particularly teenagers, to take more care on the roads.”
