BEXLEY Council is hunting for a company to take over the new coffee shop in Crayford’s Waterside Gardens.

The coffee shop was created as part of a regeneration project which has seen the gardens, on the banks of the River Cray in Crayford town centre, transformed into a new community space.

Among the improvements are an interactive water feature, performance space with amphitheatre and seating, a remembrance area and a new footbridge over the river.

The council has been running the coffee shop, which has an outside patio overlooking the river, since the planned operator pulled out at the last minute because of the effects of the credit crunch on his business.

Cabinet member for regeneration Councillor Linda Bailey said: “This is a great opportunity to get involved in the exciting regeneration plans for the town.”
