DELEGATES at a conference heard from a Victoria Cross holder about his recovery after he suffered a severe head injury in the line of duty.
Lance Corporal Johnson Gideon Beharry spoke at the event which was organised by the Bromley interagency group.
The group, which includes Bromley Council, the NHS and others working with head injury charity Headway, heard him talk about his continuing rehabilitation since he was injured in Iraq in June 2004.
In Bromley sufferers can take part in weekly sessions run by the council and Headway to help them regain their independence.
Portfolio holder for adult and community services Councillor Graham Arthur said: “Rehabilitation is so important.
“The sessions mean we can support those affected in Bromley and their families as they make the often difficult journey to regaining their confidence and independence.”
