CHILDREN have had fun dressing up as book characters during an art week.

The youngsters from Bickley Primary School in Nightingale Lane, Bromley, also took part in story telling classes and painted famous artists.

There are 270 pupils at the school and pupils of different ages experienced slightly different things during the week which took place between October 19 and 24.

Pupils aged between five and seven were encouraged to dress up as a character from a book and also went to the cinema to watch Curious George, whereas youngsters aged between eight and 11 saw March of The Penguins.

Those students were also encouraged to dress up as singers, artists and actors.

Headteacher of the school, Jen Mayhew, said: “We held the week to encourage the children to get involved in the arts and to make learning exciting.”
