THE war of words otherwise known as Scrabble came to a head last week when literary champions in Swanley were presented with their awards.
Swanley mayor Councillor Frank Parker visited the Swanley Scrabble Club to present three of its members with awards on Wednesday. The Scrabble Shield was presented to 73-year-old Jack Harwood of Keswick Road, Orpington, for getting the highest average score of 375 points.
Edith Yhap, 81, of Kennett Court, Swanley, won the Knock Out Cup while Mrs Vina King, 75, of London Road, Swanley, won the Olive Underwood Merit Award for the most-improved average score.
Anyone interested in joining the club, which is for all levels, should call 01322 662907.
