Modern society. We are faced with more choice than ever before. For example when you go down to the local supermarket to buy a box of cereal, how many different brands and types are you faced with? Many supermarkets boast that they sell over 30,000 products and that figure is ever growing. However this doesn’t just stop at supermarkets, these range from gadgets, clothing, entertainment and leisure.

We often find it hard to choose and when we have made our decision, further along the line, we feel a sense of regret as to why we didn't go for our other option. However in life there are times when we have to make difficult decisions. Some times we are faced with no win situations or even life changing situations. But can you imagine what people like doctors and policemen are faced with? When they make one mistake we are all quick to judge them but how many of us think what they had to go through first?

We have more choice than ever before but the problem is we simply have so much choice, that psychologists believe it is making us miserable. Conversely choice can be good for us too. It gives us freedom, power and individuality. But why is it making us miserable surely choice is a good thing? The more choice we are faced with the more complex the decision making process becomes, therefore making us miserable and anxious.

Choice can be good and bad, it is different for everyone. The question is just how much choice is too much choice?
