DARTFORD and Gravesham NHS Trust has slipped slightly in the latest annual performance ratings.

The trust was rated good for its quality of service in the financial year 2008/9 after being rated excellent in 2007/8 by health watchdog the Care Quality Commission.

However it received the highest rating of excellent in financial management, which is an improvement on last year’s score of good.

The Care Quality Commission has assessed every trust in the country awarding a rating on a four-point scale ranging from excellent to weak.

Trust chief executive Mark Devlin said: “This is an extremely encouraging result and one that could not have been made possible without the considerable efforts made by each and every one of our staff.

“This achievement positions Darent Valley as one of the higher performing hospitals in the NHS and keeps us on track with our aim of becoming a foundation trust.”
