A VISUALLY impaired gymnast has won an award for the ninth year in a row.

Hannah Westerman from Babbacombe Road, Bromley, won the British rhythmic championships for disabled people.

The competition took place in Bath and Hannah carried out four routines including rope, hoop, ball and ribbon.

The 22-year-old is a member of the Falcon Spartak Gymnastics Club in Sidcup, which she has been attending since she was five years old.

Senior coach, Kay Salter, is proud of Hannah.

Miss Salter said: “Hannah is quite remarkable. Her vision is quite bad and she does struggle with it.

“She has difficulties catching the wand and to win a title like this shows the incredible strength she has got because other people may just give up.”

Five other gymnasts from the club also won awards.
