A POLICE officer is being investigated by the Met after allegedly leaving a woman in the clutches of a rapist.
The PC faces a disciplinary hearing after a judge singled out his actions following the trial of 54-year old Vitas Jasionis who was found guilty of raping a 32-year-old woman in a Woolwich flat last year.
It is alleged the officer visited the flat in November, but left after Jasionis reassured him there was nothing to worry about. The woman was raped hours later.
A spokesman for the Met confirmed the officer is being investigated by the Met's directorate of professional standards.
Jasionis, from Southwark, denied rape but was found guilty at Woolwich Crown Court on Friday(October 9). He will be sentenced on October 20.
