A BURGLAR who was tackled by a neighbour of the house he targeted has been given a three-year jail term.
Wayne Austin, of Medhurst Gardens, Gravesend, was sentenced at Maidstone Crown Court on October 5 after pleading guilty to burglary.
The court heard the 28-year-old broke into a house in Townfield Corner, Gravesend, on August 21.
As he came out of the house he was tackled by 64-year-old neighbour Michael Cubitt, who managed to wrestle a stolen laptop computer from Austin before he got away.
Mr Cubitt described Austin to police and officers used the description and footage from CCTV cameras inside and outside the house to catch him.
Austin had stolen a number of electrical items from the house, including computer games consoles, which were recovered after he told officers where he had hidden them.
Kent police gave Mr Cubitt an award for his part in catching Austin.
