A HORTICULTURAL society has had fun celebrating its 50th year.
Mottingham Horticultural Society held the event on the Widecombe Road Allotments.
The group celebrated by having tea and refreshments.
They also paid tribute to John Perkins, who had been the society’s secretary for a number of years.
Mr Perkins was given a Wisteria plant and a case of wine to wish him well.
The new secretary Jim Heath has said he wants to attract more people to join the society.
Mr Heath said: “I am especially keen to get younger members to reinvigorate what is now recognised as an up and coming hobby of growing your own food.”
Members can take advantage of discounts on gardening supplies and also enjoy exhibiting at three annual flower shows.
Anyone wishing to join the group can email Mr Heath at jim.heath@dsl.pipex.com
