AFRICA comes to Gravesend next week, with an evening to celebrate the continent’s culture, history and literature.
An Africa Evening is being held at Gravesend Library in Windmill Street from 6 to 8pm on Wednesday (October 21) as part of Black History Month.
Female author Yaba Badoe will be talking about her latest book True Murder.
Wendy Ely, who runs a school in Zambia for orphans and young adults, will then give a talk about contemporary life in the country.
She is followed by the library’s district manager, Christoph Bull, who will talk about Africa during the First World War.
Mr Bull said: “Why bother to spend out on air fares when you can come to Africa in the comfort of Gravesend Library?”
Tickets, which cost £2, need to be bought in advance from the library.
Call Ann Thomas on 01474 365600 for more information.
