THE chairman of a school parents’ association, nicknamed Bargain Bev, has scooped a windfall for the school in a store dash.
Teaching assistant Beverley Wilkinson, 42, chairs the parents’ group at Longlands Primary School, in Woodside Road, Sidcup, and won the dash in a Sidcup-wide competition to mark the re-opening of the town’s former Woolworth store as a 99p Store.
Competitors were asked why they liked a bargain and Mrs Wilkinson’s winning entry was “Less money spent means more funds for our school”.
She was given a trolley and 99 seconds to grab as many goodies as she could, and scooped 100 items, all of which will be donated to the association and used to make cash for school funds.
She said: “This was my biggest bargain challenge ever.”
