SHOPPERS helped celebrate the life and death of Elvis Presley during a singing competition.
Elvis died on August 16, 1977, and last Saturday (August 15) impersonators of the icon were invited onto stage at the Walnuts shopping centre in Orpington to belt out a rock and roll classic.
Kevin Butler, of Tubbenden Lane in Orpington, was eventually crowned the king and won a pair of speakers, chocolates and flowers.
The 41-year-old said: “I love Elvis anyway and this was the perfect opportunity to dress up as my idol.”
Staff working in the shopping centre also donned Elvis quiffs to join in the celebrations.
