Who is in the band?

There are five of us in the band: Sarah French, on lead vocals, Dan Monks, on lead guitar and backing vocals, James Connolly, on keyboard and rhythm guitar, Toby Feakin, on bass, and Stuart Livingstone, on drums.

Where are you from??

All of the boys are from Forest Hill while Sarah is from Kidbrooke.

When and how did you form??

Sungover are essentially a core group of best friends who have played music together since they were at school. It was the return of Toby and James from living "up north" which prompted us to get back playing together again. However, the band became complete in January when Sarah answered an ad at Goldsmiths Uni and blew us lads away with her distinctive and powerful voice.

Describe your sound?

This is one of our strong points as a band we have our own unique sound. Judging from the reaction of crowds at our gigs, there is no doubting the catchy blend of pop, rock, disco, funk and lounge is becoming popular.

Who are your influences??

One of the reasons for our music sounding so far from the norm is that we all have very different musical tastes. Sarah is into classic rock bands like Aerosmith and Led Zepplin. Dan is into the smooth blues of early Clapton in The Cream and the Bluesbreakers but also dance music. Toby has a perverse interest in all things funk, disco and lounge. Stuart has an obsession with 80s' rockers Dire Straits and U2. And James likes everything which has a hint of cheese and pop about it! All these influences are brought together in our music. "Impossible" I hear you cry. Well that is no longer the case!

Best gig??

In August we won a national competition (North West Cherry Pop Pickers) to find the "Next Big Thing". As part of the prize we played a celebratory gig at the Rock Garden, in Covent Garden. We were treated as VIPs the whole day and in the evening when we played the atmosphere was amazing. The place was packed and everyone was going mad to our music! The most important thing is our audience has as much fun watching us as we do playing for them!

Worst gig??

The worst gig would have to be one of our first. A week before we were due to play a dive of a pub Sarah broke her leg in a freak accident involving a car door. She had to hobble on stage on crutches and then had to sing sitting down for most of it.

Releases??

We independently released the Convoy EP in June and will be recording our next EP just after Christmas. It will be available mid-January.

Hopes and aspirations??

To take over the world's TVs and radios with the music of Sungover! Well, eventually, but at the moment we are working with Pete, our music marketing manager, towards getting ourselves signed to a good record deal and to keep playing as many fun gigs as possible. We think our music has the ability to take us all the way.

What's next??

Later in December we will be going back into the studio to put the finishing touches to what we hope will be our first single, which will go out at some point next year. We have also lined up some publicity shots with Paul Harries, who has taken photos of the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Kylie, Kelly Osbourne and 50 cent. There are radio interviews soon after that and we will be gigging around London.

-- See Sungover at The Cartoon Club, London Road, Croydon, on Thursday, December 11 at 9pm or at The Amersham Arms, New Cross Road, New Cross on Friday, January 9.
