A 25-YEAR-OLD Gravesend man has been jailed for stealing £30,000 worth of metal cable.

John Levi Dunn, of Shamrock Road, was charged with theft of the cabling from a site in Maidstone in January 2007.

He was also accused of aggravated vehicle taking in relation to stealing a heavy goods vehicle.

He denied both charges but was found guilty at Maidstone Crown Court on Friday (March 20) and given a three-year sentence.

Two other men, Tom Dunn, aged 22, and Matthew Dunn, aged 19, both from Sevenoaks, were found guilty of the same charges at the court on Friday.

Tom Dunn was given a two and-a-half-year sentence while Matthew Dunn was sentenced to two years at a young offenders’ institute.

The three men were also disqualified from driving for 12 months.

Last September, a fourth man, 26-year-old Henry Dunn from Sevenoaks, was given a six-year sentence for his part in the metal cabling theft and other offences. He pleaded guilty to theft and burglary.

The arrest of all four men followed an 12-month investigation by Kent police.

Investigating officer Detective Sergeant Rob Haines said: “All four men committed serious offences in their own community, showing no regard for others and putting lives at risk.

“It is fitting that these three men have been given a significant prison sentence.”
