Someone who is much better at maths than me has worked out that I made a mistake with my pay calculations.
When I did the sums to work out how much my salary would be on minimum wage, I estimated how much I earned in a four-week month then multiplied it by 12.
Stupidly I didn't realise that this only makes 48 weeks in total, and there are of course 52 weeks in a year.
For a while I thought maybe that's fair enough anyway, because maybe in a casual minimum wage job I wouldn't be entitled to paid holiday and I'd never be able to work 52 weeks solid.
But I've been reading the Directgov website and discovered that I have a statutory right to 4.8 weeks of paid annual leave.
Brilliant.
Taking this on board, it turns out I've been living in deeper poverty than necessary.
It turns out that I was missing out on an extra £12.50 a week!
I'm so excited!
That now brings my weekly budget, after bills, to £52.50 a week- I'm practically rolling in it now!
