East Greenwich Pleasaunce Cafe in Chevening Road won the Green Building award, despite not opening until later this year.

Architects Jo Watkins and Alexander Sedgely have designed the building to be as sustainable and environmentally friendly as possible. This includes the use of solar energy to provide the underfloor heating and hot water for the cafe and toilets.

Mayor of Greenwich Steve Offord accepted the award, and said: “This marvellous building has been created right in the heart of Greenwich, and this award is testament to all the hard work that has gone into it. Hopefully it will attract new people to the area and encourage them to be environmentally friendly.”
